Bleach Meme ⇢ top 5 scenes
#3 from 329, a few exchanged words and looks between Hitsugaya and Matsumoto before the big battle
It’s the last one from my favourite scenes that is HitsuMatsu related, I swear ;PThe translations for this scene are quite different and I can’t fiiind the raw version /sob but I think - as for Hitsugaya’s question to Matsumoto - it was something along the lines of “Is there hesitation in your heart?”. I know, translated directly japanese tends to sound cheesy, but it also always works in japanese ;w; “Do you feel uneasy?” is close, but in another version it was “Are you ready for this?”, which is so much less personal, or on the point, I think.
Yes, Hitsugaya’s question is one directed to his subordinate, because a subordinate, who’s not ready to fight, well…shouldn’t fight. But it’s also a question directed at a friend, who’s personally involved and will probably be forced to fight a friend, possibly lover, in any case someone who made a big and important difference in her life.
Okay, so he asks. We don’t even get to see her face when Matsumoto answers, she wouldn’t know what he’s talking about. He answers “Nevermind.” If it wasn’t for the exchanged look between them, you could came to the conclusion these two had some communication problems. But the look is there. There’s room for a lot of interpretation now, obviously. But I think it’s a knowing look, not a doubting or questioning one. Everyone’s free to disagree (I love analysing, but I’m not good at it XD), but to me it looks like this:
Hitsugaya expressed his worries as a Taichô and as a friend. He knows that it’s difficult for her, even though he probably also knows, that he…well, doesn’t know everything about Matsumoto and Ichimaru Gin. I see Matsumoto’s answer as an attempt to reassure Hitsugaya and herself. I think she is determined to give her best, but also understandably nervous. Well, whatever it actually is (anyone have a theory?) I understand their exchanged look as something like “If this is going to work out or not, if you have doubts or not, whatever you do or say, I trust you.”
Hnng.
I will always love these two.
