Everyone has that one friend who thinks their opinion is always right, and goes around LOOKING to start shit over politics. Or they post about politics on their own wall and write some (maybe psuedo-)intellectual commentary. Then I make the face above.
So, I’m late to the party (admittedly, as always), but oh my god.
I’ve only just watched Bill Clinton’s and Michelle Obama’s speeches, but are they amazing orators OR WHAT? Bill Clinton we’ve always known to be a hugely charismatic speaker, and he’s definitely still got it. I had no idea Michelle Obama was so charismatic as an orator! I feel she’s definitely deserved the popularity she’s attained so far as First Lady with her programs for healthy, active kids, her killer fashion sense, and her obviously very strong relationship with her husband. Her speech though— it brought me to the brink of tears probably two or three times. And I know that “Obamacare” is pretty unpopular in the States, but both Bill and Michelle brought it up without batting an eyelash. (That said, I haven’t watched Barack’s speech yet, and I’m sure he doesn’t mention it much for the sake of delicacy.) Themes of equal opportunity and fair-mindedness were pretty prevalent in both speeches, and this may just be the liberal in me, but I’ve got to say that those sound like pretty damn good traits to have in both a campaign and a President. Makes me a little sad that my country has a goon running it.
Obama’s campaign may not be as well-funded as Romney’s, but he’s got some damn strong firepower on his side in the form of these two people.
The amount of seats the WRP has managed to win is absolutely terrifying. At least they don’t have the strongest presence… not that this is completely comforting, either.
